Community Care
Our BEZA volunteers conduct patient home visits. The visits include food collection and distribution, assistance with household chores, and offering company and conversation. Every 4-6 weeks, the members are visited. Some of the members are extremely sick and bed-ridden, and some need daily care. The visits are done by the volunteers and are supported through the provision of a basic volunteer stipend to cover transportation costs and mobile phone credit.
BEZA also offers housing support. The BEZA Manager negotiates with churches and local government to ensure basic accommodation for the members that are sick and bed ridden.
BEZA runs a Loss to Follow Up Program (LTFU) program for members in the community that have stopped taking their HIV medication. BEZA encourages and supports members to re-initiate taking their medication at the Lalibela Hospital following adherence counselling and an individual support session.
